By the ART Executive Services dispatch team. Private chauffeur service across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.
Quick answer: How much does a limo cost? It depends on how the ride is priced. Hourly bookings multiply a rate by the hours, with a minimum. Point-to-point transfers are usually a flat fare. Vehicle, timing, distance, wait time, tolls and tip change the total. ART’s hourly chauffeur rates start at $100 for a sedan and $120 for an SUV, with a 3-hour minimum.

Two quotes for the same night can differ by a lot, and the reason is rarely the car alone. The way a company builds the price matters more. Some quote a flat fare. Others charge by the hour. Some fold fees into one number and others list them line by line.
Hourly or flat: the first thing that sets your price
Most private car companies use two pricing models. Hourly service means the car and driver stay with you for a set block of time. You pay a rate for each hour, and there is usually a minimum number of hours. This suits nights out, tours, business days with several meetings, and events where the car waits.
A flat transfer is one trip from point A to point B at one fixed fare. Airport and cruise port rides are commonly priced this way. If you only need to reach a hotel, a flat fare is usually simpler. If you need the car for an evening, hourly usually fits better.
ART offers both. Hourly chauffeur service is covered on the chauffeur service page, which is where to check current rates. Airport and port fares are listed on the airport and port pages, for example the Miami Airport page.

What changes the price
Use this table to see which parts of your trip push a quote up or down, and ask each company how it treats every row.
| Factor | How it affects the price | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Hourly vs flat transfer | Hourly multiplies a rate by hours. Flat is one fare for one route. | Is this quote hourly or flat for my trip? |
| Vehicle type | Larger or higher-end vehicles cost more per hour than a sedan. | Which vehicle is this price for? |
| Minimum hours | You pay for the minimum even if the trip is shorter. | What is the minimum, and does it change on weekends? |
| Time of day and event days | Late nights, weekends, holidays and big event weekends can cost more. | Is there a peak-date rate for my date? |
| Distance | Longer routes across counties add driving time and fuel. | Is mileage or travel time between stops counted? |
| Wait time | Time spent waiting can count toward the hours or be billed separately. | How much waiting is included? |
| Extra stops | Added stops add time and sometimes a fee. | Are extra stops included or charged? |
| Tolls and parking | Florida’s Turnpike and express lanes are tolled. Venue parking can be extra. | Are tolls and parking in the price? |
| Fuel | Some companies add a fuel charge to the rate. | Is fuel built in or added? |
| Gratuity | May be included, added automatically or left to you. | Is gratuity included, and how is it handled? |
| Deposit and cancellation | Affects what you pay now and what you can get back. | How much is the deposit and what is the cancellation window? |
A worked example with ART’s hourly rates
ART’s hourly chauffeur rates start at $100 per hour for a sedan and $120 per hour for an SUV, with a 3-hour minimum. These are starting rates, and the final price depends on your booking details. Check the chauffeur service page for current rates.
Here is the arithmetic for a trip that stays inside the minimum. A sedan for 3 hours is 3 x $100 = $300. An SUV for 3 hours is 3 x $120 = $360. Both are starting amounts before any extras that apply to your trip.
If you need more time, the same math continues. A sedan for 4 hours is 4 x $100 = $400, and an SUV for 4 hours is 4 x $120 = $480. A short job still bills the minimum: a 90-minute errand booked at the sedan rate is priced as 3 hours, a starting amount of $300.
| Booking | Hours | Starting rate | Starting amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sedan, minimum | 3 | $100 per hour | $300 |
| SUV, minimum | 3 | $120 per hour | $360 |
| Sedan, 4 hours | 4 | $100 per hour | $400 |
| SUV, 4 hours | 4 | $120 per hour | $480 |
Passenger count matters here. ART’s sedan seats up to 3 passengers. SUVs and Premium SUVs seat up to 6. A group of four or five needs the SUV rate, so compare on the right vehicle.

Extras that are not always in the quote
The base rate is only part of what you pay. These items are handled differently from one company to the next, so get each one in writing.
- Wait time. At an airport, a pickup may include a grace period. On an hourly booking, waiting usually uses up your hours. Ask how each case works.
- Extra stops. A quick stop for a friend or a pharmacy can be free on one quote and a fee on another.
- Tolls. Much of the highway network between Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach has electronic tolls. Ask whether they are included or passed through.
- Parking. Hotels, stadiums and venues may charge for parking or staging.
- Fuel. Some quotes add a fuel charge. Others build it into the rate.
- Gratuity. Never assume. Ask whether it is included, added, or up to you, and how to give it.
Timing and distance in South Florida
South Florida is long and narrow, and many trips cross county lines. A dinner in Miami Beach, a stop in Brickell and a late ride to Fort Lauderdale Beach is a different job from one run in a single neighborhood. Tell the company every stop and the order you want, because the route is part of the price.
Dates matter too. Weekend evenings, holidays and the weeks around large events are busy for every car service. Examples include Art Basel week in Miami Beach, music festival weekends in downtown Miami and race weekends at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Dates change each season, so check the event calendars. Book early for those dates, and ask whether a peak-date rate applies.
Deposits and cancellation terms
A deposit holds your date. Some companies take a portion up front and others take the full amount at booking. Know which applies to you.
Cancellation terms matter most for weddings and group nights out. Ask how far ahead you can cancel without a charge, whether the deposit is refundable, and what happens if your flight is delayed. Get the answer in writing.
For multi-meeting business days, see the corporate transportation page. For weddings and larger occasions, see event transportation.
Questions to ask before you book
Copy this checklist into your message to any company you are comparing. The answers let you compare totals, not just headline rates.
- Is this price hourly or a flat fare for my route?
- What is the minimum number of hours, and does it change on my date?
- Which vehicle is quoted, and does it fit my group and luggage?
- Are tolls, parking, fuel and fees included?
- How is waiting time counted?
- Are extra stops included, and how are they added?
- Is gratuity included, added automatically, or left to me?
- How much is the deposit and when is the balance due?
- What is the cancellation window and what is refundable?
- Will I get the final price in writing before I pay?
For corporate days with several meetings, see the corporate transportation page. For weddings and larger occasions, the event transportation page explains how multi-stop days are planned.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a limo cost in South Florida?
There is no single price. Cost depends on whether the booking is hourly or a flat transfer, the vehicle, the hours, the date and the extras. ART’s hourly chauffeur rates start at $100 per hour for a sedan and $120 per hour for an SUV, with a 3-hour minimum.
Is a limo priced by the hour or by the trip?
Both exist. Events and multi-stop days are usually hourly. Airport and cruise port rides are commonly a flat fare for one route. Ask which model your quote uses, because the same trip can total differently under each.
What is a minimum-hour booking?
It is the least amount of time you pay for. With ART’s hourly chauffeur service the minimum is 3 hours. If your trip takes 90 minutes, you are still priced for the minimum. Plan stops and activities to use the time you book.
What would a 3-hour sedan booking cost at ART’s starting rate?
At the starting sedan rate of $100 per hour, 3 hours is 3 x $100 = $300. That is a starting amount before any extras that apply to your trip. Final pricing depends on your booking details, so check the chauffeur service page or call for a confirmed price.
Why do SUVs cost more than sedans?
SUVs are larger and carry more people and luggage. ART’s SUV starting rate is $120 per hour against $100 for a sedan. A sedan seats up to 3 passengers. An SUV or Premium SUV seats up to 6, so the SUV is often the right size for groups.
Do prices go up on weekends and event days?
They can. Weekend evenings, holidays and large event weekends are busy for all car services, and some companies price them higher. Ask whether a peak-date rate applies to your date, and book early for busy weekends.
Are tolls and parking included in a limo quote?
It depends on the company. Some include tolls and fees in the price and others add them. Parking at venues can also be extra. Ask for a quote that states what is covered so the final bill matches what you expected.
Is gratuity included in the price?
Practice differs between companies, so ask before you book. Some include a tip in the quote, some add it automatically and some leave it to you. At ART, a 20% gratuity is already added to the fare, so there is no need to tip twice.
Does extra waiting time cost more?
It can. On an hourly booking, waiting usually uses your booked hours. On a transfer, a grace period may be included. Ask how waiting is counted and tell the company about any delays you expect.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
Many companies take a deposit at booking to hold the date. Amounts and refund rules differ. Ask what you pay now, when the balance is due and what is refundable if plans change.
How can I keep the cost down?
Book early, choose the smallest vehicle that fits your group, avoid peak dates if you can, keep stops in a sensible order and book only the hours you need. Compare quotes by what is included, not the headline rate.
Where can I see ART’s current rates?
Current hourly chauffeur information is on the chauffeur service page. Airport and port fares are on the airport and port pages. You can also call (728) 777-3721 with your date and route, and ART will confirm a price before you book.
