Quick answer: A Port Everglades terminal map shows eight cruise terminals: 2, 4, 18, 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29. They are spread across the port, with three entrances and two parking garages. Cruise lines change terminals from sailing to sailing, so confirm yours on your boarding documents. Details on rides are on the Port Everglades transportation page.

Port Everglades is large, and the terminal numbers are not in order along one pier. A wrong turn on embarkation morning costs time, so it helps to know the layout before you leave.

This guide covers the terminal numbers, the entrances, parking and drop-off basics, and the distance from the airport and from Fort Lauderdale hotels.

How the port is laid out

Port Everglades sits on the Fort Lauderdale waterfront, right beside Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The port’s address is 1850 Eller Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. The port lists eight cruise terminals: 2, 4, 18, 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29.

Terminals 2 and 4 are grouped together. Terminals 18, 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29 make up the other cluster. The port’s parking information follows the same split, with one garage serving the first group and another serving the second.

The table below uses the port’s own parking information, which names the garage or lot that serves each terminal. It does not assign cruise lines, because the cruise line you sail with can use a different terminal on a different date.

Cruise lines most associated with these terminals include Royal Caribbean at Terminal 18, Celebrity at Terminal 25, and Princess and Carnival at the lower-numbered terminals. These are general patterns only. Assignments change per sailing, so confirm your terminal on your cruise documents and boarding pass.

Entrances and gates

The port has three entrances, each reached from a different road. Cruise Critic lists them as the 17th Street Causeway on the Northport side, State Road 84 on the Midport side, and I-595 East on the Southport side near the airport.

If you are coming from I-95, I-75 or the Florida Turnpike, the usual route is I-595 East toward the port. Your navigation app will pick the entrance closest to your terminal, but check the port’s map to see which entrance reaches your terminal fastest.

  • Northport entrance: 17th Street Causeway, near shops and restaurants.
  • Midport entrance: State Road 84, close to airport-area hotels.
  • Southport entrance: I-595 East, closest to the airport.

Drop-off and parking basics

The port recommends dropping passengers and luggage at the terminal first, then parking. That keeps bags with the people carrying them. A free cell phone lot is available for drivers meeting passengers after the cruise.

Parking is on a pay-at-exit basis. The port’s parking page says it does not accept reservations or prepayment, and daily rates start when you pull your ticket. The page currently lists a daily maximum of $25 for standard vehicles. Prices change, so check the official Port Everglades parking page before you travel.

Heron Garage has a clearance of 7 feet. Palm Garage also lists 7 feet. If your vehicle is taller than that, ask the port in advance. The parking information line is 954-468-3680.

How far is the port from the airport and from hotels

Port Everglades is right next to the airport. Travel guides put the drive at roughly three miles and about six to ten minutes, depending on traffic. Fort Lauderdale Beach is about a 20-minute drive, according to Cruise Critic. This guide does not cover airport transfers in detail, so see the service page for that route.

Hotels near the airport and along Highway 1 and 17th Street are the closest. Beach hotels add drive time, so allow extra time on a weekend.

Coming from Miami is a longer trip. Cruise Critic puts a taxi or rideshare from Miami International Airport at least 45 minutes, so plan around that if you land in Miami and sail from Fort Lauderdale.

Embarkation timing and tips

The port does not set your boarding time. Your cruise line does, and the time is printed on your documents. Arrive in that window. Arriving much earlier usually means waiting outside, and arriving late can mean a rushed check-in.

Use these tips on sailing day.

  • Write down your terminal number before leaving the hotel, and check it again that morning.
  • Attach your cruise line’s luggage tags before you reach the terminal. Porters can check bags curbside.
  • Keep passports, medication and boarding papers in a bag you carry yourself.
  • There is no onsite luggage storage, so plan your hotel checkout around your boarding window.
  • Allow extra time on days when several ships sail at once.

Frequently asked questions

How many cruise terminals does Port Everglades have?

The port lists eight cruise terminals: 2, 4, 18, 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29. Terminal numbers are not consecutive. Check your boarding documents for your terminal, because it is set by your cruise line for each sailing.

Which cruise line uses which terminal?

Cruise lines tend to favor certain terminals, such as Royal Caribbean at Terminal 18 and Celebrity at Terminal 25. Assignments change per sailing, so do not rely on a general chart. Confirm your terminal on your cruise documents before you leave.

Where do I park at Port Everglades?

The port has Heron Garage for Terminals 2 and 4, and Palm Garage for Terminals 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29. Surface lots serve Terminals 18, 19 and 26. Parking is not reservable, so check the official parking page for current rates.

How much is cruise parking at Port Everglades?

The port’s parking page currently lists a daily maximum of $25 for standard vehicles, with oversized vehicles listed higher. Rates change, so check the official Port Everglades parking page before your trip. The port does not accept reservations or prepayment.

Can I reserve parking in advance?

The port’s parking page says it does not accept parking reservations or prepayment. You pull a ticket when you enter and pay when you leave. Off-site lots and hotel packages are separate options, and their rules come from each provider.

How many entrances does the port have?

There are three: the 17th Street Causeway on the north side, State Road 84 in the middle, and I-595 East on the south side near the airport. Choose the one that suits your terminal and your approach road.

How far is the port from the airport?

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is next to the port. Travel guides describe about three miles and a drive of roughly six to ten minutes, depending on traffic. Allow extra time on busy sailing days.

How far is it from Fort Lauderdale Beach?

Cruise Critic puts Fort Lauderdale Beach at about a 20-minute drive from the port. Traffic and events can change that. If your hotel is on the beach, build in extra time on embarkation morning.

Where should I drop off my luggage?

The port recommends dropping off passengers and luggage at the terminal before you park. Porters can check bags curbside, and you should attach your cruise line’s luggage tags first. The parking map shows drop-off areas.

Is there luggage storage at the port?

Cruise Critic reports no onsite luggage storage. Plan hotel checkout and your arrival around your boarding window, and keep medication, passports and travel papers in a bag you carry yourself.

What time should I arrive for boarding?

Use the check-in window on your cruise line’s documents. The cruise line sets it, not the port. Arriving inside that window usually keeps lines shorter, while arriving very early can mean waiting outside the terminal.
